High School Solo and Ensemble Festival February 3rd and 4th:
We have an extraordinary amount of participants in this year’s Solo and Ensemble festival! With over 30 events listed, this may be the highest number of events that WBHS has had in years. Great job folks! For those that are looking for more information, the festival is being held at Hartland High School, with student event times happening throughout the day. Please see the attached events form for your student’s designated solo or ensemble time.

What to wear: Professional dress. Remember to represent WBHS and your band program with respect, class and pride.
What to bring: Your copied music, your ORIGINAL SCORE with measure numbers marked (for the judge), your accompanist (found on your own), your instrument, and extra reeds for woodwinds. Anything could happen. Don’t forget your original music!

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD A LATE ENTRY, IF YOUR EVENT IS NOT LISTED AND YOU WOULD STILL LIKE TO PARTICIPATE, OR IF YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR EVENT TIME, PLEASE EMAIL MR. FIG AND MR. MIELENS BY TOMORROW BEFORE 1:00 P.M.! WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN A DAY TO MAKE CHANGES TO EVENTS, SO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY IF YOU NEED TO BEFORE 1:00 P.M. FRIDAY!
Band Students receive All-State Honors:
This past weekend Rachel Berkowitz and Bradley Joshowitz represented WBHS in the MSBOA All-State Band. This is the premiere ensemble that students can participate in at the high school level, with Rachel and Bradley being selected out of hundreds of candidates. Seeing them perform at the Michigan Music Conference was amazing, and we are so proud of their hard work and dedication to achieve this honor! Congratulations!
Winter Invitational February 5th:
Our winter invitational is coming up next weekend! If you have not already heard, this event will feature 30 drum lines and color guard from across the state of Michigan, including our own West Bloomfield Winter Drum Line and our brand new West Bloomfield Middle School Color Guard! Please support the band program and our outstanding students, as they are working hard to make this event the best one yet. Volunteer opportunities are still available for both students and parents. Pizza Kit Fundraiser:
One of our biggest and most successful fundraisers begins February 1st with our Little Caesar’s Pizza Kit Fundraiser! More details about the sale and the benefits of participating will be released to your students when the sale begins in a few days. Please keep your eyes out for the beginning of this fundraiser (your student will receive an information packet).

MSBOA Festival Performance: March 3rd, 2012, (times TBA), BRIGHTON High School (The festival location has changed, please take note!)
Next Booster Meeting:
The next booster meeting is to be held Tuesday, February 7th at 7:00 p.m. in the WBHS Media Center. Mr. Fig, Mr. Mielens, and the booster board will be discussing several important items as we near festival, our finale concert, and the upcoming summer season. Please come by to listen, become informed, and enter to win a gift card!
