PARENT MEETING – NEW DIRECTOR MEET & GREET RECAP
Thank you to all of the parents that came out to our June meeting. In case you missed it, please see the attached meeting minutes. They can be found at the end of this newsletter.
For those of you that did not get to meet our new Director of Bands, Noah Dyer, here is some information he shared:
Mr. Dyer comes to us from Grand Ledge schools, near Lansing. He is a graduate of Lake Orion High School and Western Michigan University (Bachelor, Music Education). He has a wealth of marching and drum corps experience, having marched with the Glassmen, Madison Scouts and Santa Clara Vanguard, playing both trumpet and mellophone in seven DCI seasons. At West Bloomfield, Mr. Dyer will teach 7th and 8th grade band at Orchard Lake Middle School in addition to the band classes at WBHS.
Mr. Dyer’s district e-mail address is firstname.lastname@example.org

MARCHING BAND MINI-CAMP
The first Marching Band Mini-Camp will be June 18th-20th from 9am-4pm at the high School. Please watch your emails for detailed information regarding this camp.
MARCHING BAND REGISTRATION
Marching Band: Registration is still open to all students currently in grades 7-11 residing in the West Bloomfield School District who have experience on wind or percussion instruments. District students who attend International Academy, Oakland Early College or any private or non-profit school without a marching band are welcome to join!
Color Guard: Students who are not in band class and/or who do not play an instrument may join the Color Guard, a visual ensemble that is an essential part of the Marching Band. Some experience in dance is helpful but not required. The dance elements and equipment skills can be taught to interested students.

Financial Aid: Parents, don’t let finances be a barrier to your student’s participation in this fun and rewarding activity. Many parents have made alternative payment arrangements with us, and you can too. Communication is key – please notify Mr. Dyer, Chris Vilag, or Raluca Dusa, our treasurer (email@example.com) or any board member if you need help.
Fundraisers: The BBAWB and Director of Bands will offer fundraisers throughout the season to help defray the cost of the program and any unexpected expenses that may arise. Some fundraisers may offer points for individual student accounts, others may not. In any event, all students are expected to participate in our fundraising efforts.
BBAWB Calendar – Parents, please get in the habit of checking the calendar at http://wbbands.info/calendar/. Last minute schedule changes and/or cancellations will be communicated as soon as possible via e-mail.

CAR WASH FUNDRAISER
Please help out on Saturday, July 21st
This is the first of two car washes we hold over the summer. It is Saturday July 21, 2018 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 4800 Orchard Lake Rd (across from the high school).
I have sign-ups for car soap, water and snacks.
I have the sign up broken up into two different needs. People who volunteer to wash and dry cars will sign-up in 2-hour blocks. I also need color guard to come twirl flags, etc. Their sign-up is in half hour blocks. You can sign up for more than one block if you want. Please follow the link to sign-up.
