DIRECTOR’S UPDATE

Now that I’m starting to get settled in, I wanted to introduce myself to the members of the West Bloomfield band community. My name is Noah Dyer and I am the new band director for West Bloomfield High School and Orchard Lake Middle School.

I grew up in Lake Orion, attended Western Michigan University, and am coming to West Bloomfield from Grand Ledge.  As you can see, I’ve lived in Michigan my entire life and have always had a strong admiration of the high quality of the bands here in West Bloomfield. In addition to teaching in Grand Ledge, I bring many years of drum corps experience with me and am looking forward to being able to draw upon it as we work to continue growing the marching, concert, and jazz bands at WBHS and OLMS.

I also wanted everyone to know that it’s not too late to join Marching Band!Marching band is an AWESOME experience for a high school student–we perform at home football games, competitions around the state, AND grow as citizens and leaders while building strong bonds with our peers (you’ll immediately have a bunch of friends to sit with at lunch!).

We need at least one more student in the battery (marching drums) and as many students as possible in the horn line (woodwinds and brass).

Time is running out!  If your student is interested, or if you have any questions, please contact myself, Chris Vilag, or Ruben Luna by the end of the day on

* Tuesday, June 26 *

Our contact information is below.  We have to close enrollment on that day because we have to give our music arranger a final count for each instrument.

Looking forward to meeting everyone in person very soon!

Best,

Noah Dyer

MARCHING BAND REGISTRATION

* Please register by the end of the day, Tuesday June 26th *

We need at least one more student in the battery (marching drums) and as many students as possible in the horn line (woodwinds and brass)

Marching Band: Registration is still open to all students currently in grades 7-11 residing in the West Bloomfield School District who have experience on wind or percussion instruments. District students who attend International Academy, Oakland Early College or any private or non-profit school without a marching band are welcome to join!

Color Guard: Students who are not in band class and/or who do not play an instrument may join the Color Guard, a visual ensemble that is an essential part of the Marching Band. Some experience in dance is helpful but not required. The dance elements and equipment skills can be taught to interested students.

CAR WASH FUNDRAISER

Please help out on Saturday, July 21st

This is the first of two car washes we hold over the summer. It is Saturday July 21, 2018 at Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, 4800 Orchard Lake Rd (across from the high school).

I have sign-ups for car soap, water and snacks.

I have the sign up broken up into two different needs. People who volunteer to wash and dry cars will sign-up in 2-hour blocks. I also need color guard to come twirl flags, etc. Their sign-up is in half hour blocks. You can sign up for more than one block if you want. Please follow the link to sign-up.
