Help! New Marching Band Camp Location Needed: We need help finding a new band camp for next summer. We have been going to Tamarack for the last two years; however, with the way the calendar shifts each year, we have been squeezed out by their regular programming and a 300 member band that always goes there. Last summer, Tamarack offered to us their Butzel Center for our 2017 band camp, with plans to create a field for us. They have just contacted us to say that it is not economically feasible to develop the field at this time. So, we are without a band camp for 2017.  We need help finding a new camp. These are our criteria:

  1. It must have a full football sized field
  2. Can sleep at least 140 (For staff, chaperones, enough room to grow);
  3. Can provide three meals a day for five days;
  4. Has practice areas available indoors during bad weather;
  5. Available the week of  August 21-25, 2017 (if absolutely necessary, we can change it to the week of August 14-18).

The closer the better. A one to 1.5 hour maximum distance is preferred to avoid steep transportation costs.  If you have a camp in mind, please call the camp first with the above basic questions. If the camp is a prospect then please forward the information to camp coordinator Ruth Richards, so that she can inquire further. Her email address is richardsbandmom@gmail.com.
