Hello West Bloomfield Band families! What a busy weekend we just had!

The MSBOA Festival took place on Friday and Saturday March 10 and 11.  Congratulations to Orchard Lake Middle School and Abbott Middle School, who both earned “II” ratings on their performances at Walled Lake Northern HS and Lake Orion High School on Friday and Saturday!

The West Bloomfield High School bands performed at Clarkston High School on Friday evening.  The Symphony Band earned a “II” rating, while the Concert Band and Symphonic Winds both earned “I” ratings from all judges on performance and sight reading!  Congratulations to all!

Congratulations to West Bloomfield Varsity Guard, who performed their show “Tomber Amoureaux: To Fall in Love” at the WGI Regional in Grand Blanc on Saturday.  They came in 9th place out of 25 groups, who came from Michigan, Ohio and Illinois!  This was an incredible accomplishment!  Way to go!!

Marching Band and Color Guard 2017 Enrollment is coming soon! We are so excited about the 2017 season!  New uniforms, new band camp, new summer schedule!  Check your e-mail for news and information. We are planning on opening up registration starting on Wednesday March 15. There will be discounts for early enrollment and also incentives for student-to-student recruitment.  Paper registration forms will also be available in the band rooms at both middle schools and WBHS.

John Boruta Alumni Scholarship Applications for the John Boruta Alumni Marching Band Scholarship are now being accepted through Monday, April 10, 2017.  This scholarship will provide a worthy student a positively life-changing experience through participation in the West Bloomfield Marching Band program.  More information and application can be found here.

Spring Swing II is coming up on Friday May 5! Chairperson Anne Marie Collier-Miller will be holding a rescheduled volunteer meeting soon.  In the meantime, she is requesting volunteers in the following areas: decorating; requesting appetizer donations from local restaurants; and collecting items for the silent auction.  A Sign Up Genius will go out soon for auction gift basket items.  Questions – contact Anne Marie at bamo72@msn.com.

School Bond Election coming up on May 2! The voter registration deadline is April 3.   Please register and vote!  This election is an opportunity for West Bloomfield School District to invest $120 million in updates, renovation and construction throughout the entire district, with a half-mill reduction in the school tax rate. The West Bloomfield Bands will stand to benefit from this election in the form of the addition of an auxiliary gym at WBHS, remodeling of the auditorium and fine arts spaces including additional storage near the WBHS band room, and new musical instruments and equipment for grades K-12. Winter Winds: We apologize for the delay in the Winds show T-shirts. We are putting a rush on them and they should arrive within one week.
