Hello West Bloomfield Band families!

Congratulations to our West Bloomfield students who braved the weather to perform at State Solo & Ensemble on Saturday! All participating students had to receive first division ratings at the district level in order to qualify. Every student from West Bloomfield earned either a first or second division rating this year at State Festival, which is an outstanding result!  Congratulations to all who participated!

Jon Michael Sinanis and Jack Bull-mixed instrument duet

West Bloomfield Percussion, Winds and JV Guard competed at the MCGC Lakeland Invitational yesterday!  All three groups did an outstanding job – West Bloomfield Percussion received first place as the only group performing in their class yesterday, but earned an outstanding score of 84.95 for their show “Into the Canvas!”  The Winds group did an amazing job performing their show “Eyes Turned Skyward!”  As the only ensemble in their class in the entire state, they also received first place honors. The Junior Varsity Guard performed their show “Statues of Us” beautifully and placed second in a highly competitive class.  Congratulations to all of our hard-working students!

Winter Percussion travels this weekend to compete at the WGI Power Regional at the University of Northern Kentucky.  Varsity and JV Winter Guard compete at MCGC Novi on Sunday March 26.  Good luck to all!

Congratulations to Lily Brenner and Alisibeth Watkins-Miller on their fantastic performances at MCGC’s Winter Guard Solo & Ensemble on Sunday March 5! They received first place as an ensemble; 2nd place solo (Alisibeth) and first place solo (Lily).  Great job!!

Marching Band and Color Guard 2017 Enrollment is now open! We are so excited about the 2017 season!  New uniforms, new band camp, new summer schedule!  Check your e-mail for news and information. There will be discounts for early enrollment and also incentives planned for student-to-student recruitment.  Paper registration forms will also be available in the band rooms at both middle schools and WBHS.

Marching Band: John Boruta Alumni Scholarship Applications for the John Boruta Alumni Marching Band Scholarship are now being accepted through Monday, April 10, 2017.  This scholarship will provide a worthy student a positively life-changing experience through participation in the West Bloomfield Marching Band program.  More information and application can be found here.

Spring Swing II is coming up on Friday May 5! Chairperson Anne Marie Collier-Miller is requesting volunteers in the following areas: decorating; requesting appetizer donations from local restaurants; and collecting items for the silent auction.  A Sign Up Genius will go out soon for auction gift basket items.  Questions – contact Anne Marie at bamo72@msn.com.

School Bond Election coming up on May 2! The voter registration deadline is April 3.   Please register and vote!  This election is an opportunity for West Bloomfield School District to invest $120 million in updates, renovation and construction throughout the entire district, with a half-mill reduction in the school tax rate. The West Bloomfield Bands will stand to benefit from this election in the form of the addition of an auxiliary gym at WBHS, remodeling of the auditorium and fine arts spaces including additional storage near the WBHS band room, and new musical instruments and equipment for grades K-12.
