West Bloomfield Bands E-Newsletter: Week of March 27, 2017

News Updates

Hello West Bloomfield Band families!

We are so proud of West Bloomfield Percussion who performed spectacularly and placed third at the WGI Mid-East Power Regional at Northern Kentucky University over the weekend! The group competed against groups from all over the Midwest and earned an outstanding score of 86.125 for their show “Into the Canvas.” Congratulations to all of our hard-working students and to director Chris Vilag and his staff!

The Boosters, instructors and staff would also like to thank the dedicated parents and volunteers who helped make WB Percussion’s weekend in Kentucky such a huge success!  Special thanks to super mom Ruth Richards, who not only drove students, but also coordinated the transportation, meals/hotel and chaperoned! Thanks also go to the intrepid parents who chaperoned and drove groups of students to Kentucky – Christine Long, Anne Marie Collier-Miller and Marguerite DeBello.  Thank you to our pit and prop parents, led by the talented Scott Floer!  Finally, a huge “thank you” to Tim Heileman, who kindly volunteered to drive the semi-truck to Kentucky and back!

Varsity and JV Winter Guard competed at MCGC Novi on Sunday March 26.  Varsity Guard placed 3rd with their show “Tomber Amoreaux: To Fall in Love,” and Junior Varsity Guard placed 2nd with their show “Statues of Us!”  Congratulations to all of our talented students in both groups!

We wish our Winter Ensembles the best of luck as they compete at the MCGC State Finals at Saginaw Valley State University this weekend!  The Winter Guard groups compete on Saturday April 1, and the Winter Winds and Winter Percussion groups compete on Sunday April 2.  Good luck to all!

Please join us for our annual Friends and Family Show this Thursday March 30 featuring our Winter Ensembles: Varsity and JV Winter Guard; Winter Winds and Winter Percussion!  This is a wonderful opportunity for the public to see our groups perform before they perform at State Finals on April 1 and 2! Donations at the door will be gratefully appreciated. For more information, click here.
