What an exciting week it has been for the West Bloomfield Bands programs! Our Middle School musicians had the opportunity to perform for the adjudicators at MSBOA Solo & Ensemble. The results were stellar:

All OLMS participants received either a first or second division rating. 

First division:

WBHS Winter Percussion made their trip to WGI World Championships in Dayton OH this week. After a thoroughly rousing performance in the preliminary round, WB Winter Percussion competed in the semi finals, and was awarded 21st place overall. In the WORLD! Judges scoring further identified that the ensemble scored so high, they came in 8th overall in the Music category. So, parents of Middle School Percussion members, this is where your kids are headed, as our programs make gains every year. Congratulations to Percussion Director Chris Vilag, his staff, and the amazing members of the ensemble.

Have you seen the clues posted on the Official West Bloomfield High School Marching Band Page? Think you know what they mean? Be sure to come to Reveal Night. In addition to learning what the show will be called and hearing the source music that will be arranged for us, we will announce the Drum Majors, Section Leaders, and the winner of the John Boruta Alumni Scholarship. Early Registration for 2016 Marching Band and Color Guard closes Monday! 
Submit that registration paperwork and deposit to the Band Boosters mailbox in the WBHS Band room or to your Middle School band director MONDAY to receive $50 OFF the students’ Marching Band fees. General registration opens Tuesday at REVEAL NIGHT!


April Fundraiser at Menchies Frozen Yogurt!

Celebrate the 111th day of the year Spring on April 20 with frozen yogurt at Menchies (Hunter Square near B-Dubs). 20% of our purchased will be donated to the band! PRINT THE ATTACHED FLYER AND TAKE IT WITH YOU. Take the whole family out for a treat!



Join us for tryouts to kick off our 2016 season May 3 and 5, 4 – 7pm in the WBHS Band Room. No commitment necessary–just come check it out. Our family is GROWING and we’re ready for you to experience this dynamic, competitive group of performers!

Boys and Girls currently in 7-11 grade who attend WB schools or live within the school district are eligible. No dance experience necessary! Please wear comfortable athletic clothing, bring a water bottle and a friend!



There are Scrip bonuses going on from April 16-April 29. This means the rebate is increased from the regular percentage to a higher percentage during this time. The bonuses include, but are not limited to, Bed bath and Beyond, now 8% instead of 7%. Kohls, now 6% instead of 4%. TGIFridays, now 10% instead of 9%. Home Depot, now 6% instead of 4%. Great time to pick up cards for spring-cleaning and summer projects.

Every purchase brings a rebate, and 60% goes to the to student’s points account, while 40% goes toward instruments, sectional instruction, music program scholarships, equipment purchase, and other initiatives supported by the Band Boosters. Go to and order SCRIP (gift cards).  The rewards for every purchase add up! And the more people who participate, the faster the rewards grow. Questions about how it works? Spring SWING Fundraiser and Silent Auction MaY 20

Come see the WBHS Jazz Orchestra, Middle School Jazz Band, Winter Guard and State Solo and Ensemble participants entertain you while enjoying appetizers and beverages in a beautiful lakeside location along the shore of Orchard Lake. Sponsorships available!

We want to show off all the band students, so we’re in search of pictures of all bands performing, in their early years through the present: Middle school through high school; Jazz bands, color guard, marching band, concert band–solo ensemble–all pictures and ALL grades, from sixth on up! Email the pictures to Anne Marie Collier Miller.

If you have a great item that would go along with the theme, but don’t see it listed, please add it in the “Other” slot.

Also, if you have a theme basket you want to build and donate, at the very bottom is a space that you can enter your theme basket. All donations are due NO LATER than May 3, 2016 at the parent meeting. We will be having a basket-building day, so look for that sign-up as well.



The Yankee Candle Spring Sale orders are due from Winter Guard and Winter Percussion members on April 18 If you don’t personally know a participating student, online shopping is available now through July 31.
