The Band Boosters Association of West Bloomfield has a general membership meeting on Tuesday. Every parent or guardian with a child in any Middle School or High School band program, curricular or extra-curricular, is encouraged to attend. And this is a very important meeting – the budget proposed for our next fiscal year (July 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016) will be presented. Curious about what the Boosters do? We’re all parents and guardians working together to give our kids the best experience we can. Want to know what activities require fees, and which do not? Wondering how that fee for Marching Band was determined? Here’s the chance to see what expenses are coming up, and how they will be paid. You may call the high school athletic office at (248)865-6743 to make your appointment. Cost: $20 cash or check payable to Laker Fan Club.

Call the athletic office at (248) 865-6743 or email Aimee, the high school athletic trainer at Parents: if your insurance will not permit you to have a physical at your doctor’s office before summer rehearsals begin, please take advantage of this opportunity. Your child will not be permitted to attend summer rehearsals unless medical forms are submitted.

Young men who are graduating this year should start returning concert uniforms to the band room now. Tradition has you wearing your own attire at the final concert, and (of course) cap and gown at graduation. That tuxedo jacket can be turned in any time. Make sure your name and contact info is attached, so we don’t have to hunt you down. Questions or concerns? Email Anne Marie Collier Miller. And if you haven’t yet paid the $5 rental/cleaning fee, now is the time.

Just a friendly reminder that all receipts for reimbursement need to be accompanied with our “Check Request Form” which can be found on the band’s website HERE.  Without this form, your payment may be delayed.

Have you ever wondered what happens to last year’s guard uniforms and flags, or the Winter Drumline tarp from two years ago? We hope to sell them to another school’s guard or drumline. In fact, the “For Sale” page on our web site is one of the most visited pages we have. Now, a volunteer is needed to take over the sales of our used items.  It is time sensitive and requires follow-through and creative problem-solving skills.

The job entails:

  1. Getting a request for a purchase
  2. Finding out to where we are shipping
  3. Going to a shipping place with the items and the destination (we have been using going postal, other options are sought) and getting a cost.
  4. Sending an invoice out
  5. Hope for a reply to the invoice – often the shipping cost puts them off and then they just don’t reply –
  6. Collecting the check or PO if the item sells
  7. Shipping the items.  If the items don’t sell they need to be returned to the band room.

This needs to be someone with time during business hours, creative shipping ideas, and tenacity to secure commitments from buyers. Email president@wbbands for more info.  .
