Yankee Candle Fundraiser NOW OPEN!!!!!
The entire band program – middle school, high school, and marching band – will be participating in a fundraiser offering Yankee Candles this fall to assist with instrument repair and purchase. Packets were distributed to band classes last week. Orders can be taken ONLY Oct 23 – Nov 9 (orders must be turned in no later than Nov 9), and products will be delivered 2-4 weeks later, in time for the holidays. Collect money at the time of the order. Checks should be payable to BBAWB.
Also, an online shopping option will allow friends and family anywhere to take advantage of these wonderful products. Online shopping is now available, and open through the end of the year.
Our seller # is 990077510
Online orders are sent directly to the purchaser, usually in about a week. It’s a great option! This was a popular and productive fundraiser last year, we hope for even better responses in 2015. A parent volunteer is needed to assist fundraising coordinator Sarah Boyle. Interested? Any other questions? Email Sarah Boyle.
Marching Band uniforms should be cleaned in preparation for MCBA State Finals. CLICK HERE to see cleaning instructions. Dinkles should be cleaned with soap and water or diluted leather cleaners. A shine can be put back on the leather with a car care product such as Armorall® or what works really well is Armorall® wipes. Band members are to report in FULL Uniform at 5:00am Saturday for State Finals.
STATE FINALS PAPER PLATE AWARDS
Band Parents have a tradition of creating paper plate signs for the band members, wishing them good luck and encouraging them to do well at State Finals. Make a paper plate award for your child and hang it on the band room wall starting November 2. Bring strong tape since the walls are cinder block.
Band Parents Meeting
The monthly Band Parents Meeting will be held Tuesday Nov 3 at 7pm at WBHS. If you have any questions about our activities or schedule for the next few weeks, be sure to attend. The agenda is attached to this email.
WINTER GUARD FUNDRAISER – THE LODGE GRILL & BAR
Please help the Varsity Winter Guard get to the WGI World Championships in Dayton! Eat at The Lodge Grill and Bar in Keego Harbor on Thursday, November 5! Bring in this certificate and 20% of all purchases will be donated to the WBHS Winter Guard.
OLMS Recruiting Trip
We are please to have the opportunity to perform at OLMS on Monday November 9, first thing in the morning. Mr Mielens will provide further details at rehearsals. This is a great way to reconnect with the students who came out for Homecoming and who could be next year’s Lakers.
MCBA State Finals Info
State Finals are held at Ford Field in Detroit. For information about tickets, parking, directions, and the strictly enforced policy on permitted and prohibited items, please CLICK HERE. The page is full of information for spectators provided by Ford Field/MCBA. Note: water bottles are prohibited. Further Note for Band members: Our buses are not locked or guarded when we are at Ford Field. DO NOT bring valuables. It has happened in the past that a bus has been ransacked.
FEED THE BAND – Grab & Go Breakfast.
CLICK HERE for the Signup Genius. Some food items and help are needed to provide our band with a quick bagel, fruit and juice breakfast before heading off to Ford Field. Prep begins at 5:15am; the band eats at 5:50am. A bagel slice would be most helpful if anybody has one we can borrow. Kirsten Watkins-White’s contact info can be found on the signup page.
BOA GRAND NATIONALS IN INDIANAPOLIS
This is what we have been working toward all season: The opportunity to compete among the most elite marching bands in the nation! It is really an opportunity not to be missed.

If selected, we will find out time of Saturday’s performance sometime Friday night after awards ceremony; but performances are between 7:45am and 4:30p on Saturday. Finals take place Saturday night.
