Dear Marching Band Members and Families,

There is really not much left to say about our Marching Band season. Our Banquet last night was a fitting celebration of the hard work put in, and success achieved by our band members, section leaders, drum majors, parent volunteers, committee chairs, Boosters Board, Staff, and Administration. Without each of you giving your all, we could not have had the season we did.

This is the last e-news targeted specifically to the Marching Band family. But our Winter ensembles are already in progress: Winter Guard, West Bloomfield Percussion, and WBHS Jazz Band are setting their rosters. Concert Bands are preparing for the December 10 All-City Winter Concert. Individual musicians are selecting their pieces for Solo and Ensemble. So if you (for the student) or your child (for parents) are participating in any of these, keep your eyes open for information as it comes up.

A few final tasks remain for Marching Band.

  1. Please help our fundraising efforts toward uniforms, instruments and sectional instructors by selling the raffle tickets and returning the stubs to Mrs. Long in the envelope provided to you;
  2. Launder your uniform and return the bib, jacket, gauntlets and gloves in their garment bag to the racks in the band room ASAP;
  3. Take the survey linked below. Your feedback about the band is extremely important as we hope to have all of our non-Seniors return, and to encourage many new members to join.

Once again, thank you. Work hard, be kind, amazing things will happen.

Go Lakers!

Chad Mielens

WBHS Director of Bands

The West Bloomfield Bands raffle is on! This is a huge fundraiser that will benefit all of the West Bloomfield School District bands. Tickets went home with the Marching Band members before the Indianapolis trip.  Parents, if you have not seen any tickets, ASK YOUR CHILD. Each student is responsible for selling at least five $5 tickets. The prize is $1,000! (If fewer than 400 tickets are sold, the prize reverts to a 50/50). The drawing will take place on Dec. 10, 2015 at the WB All-City Winter Concert in the auditorium. Participants need not be present to win. When you have finished selling your tickets, please return the stubs (the part of the ticket with the purchaser’s name and phone number) and the money (checks can be made to BBAWB) to the Band Director’s Mailbox or mail in the envelope provided to Raffle Coordinator Christine Long. Please do not throw out or destroy any raffle tickets. They are all numbered and assigned to each student and we need to account for every ticket. If you need more tickets, please contact Christine Long at .

Uniforms went home with band members upon return from Indianapolis. Please launder the uniforms (CLICK HERE for cleaning instructions) and hang in the garment bag. Put gauntlets, gloves and Dinkles in the bag for next year. All uniform pieces will be checked in and you will be contacted to pay for any lost pieces that require replacement. Contact Christine Long with any questions.

Please help our recruiting, retention, and operations for Marching Band 2016 by filling out these surveys. Please answer the questions honestly and use the comment boxes to provide feedback on your and your student’s marching band experience.

WB Percussion Bottle Drive

To follow up on their commanding win in the fall Bottle Drive, West Bloomfield Percussion is holding a bottle drive following the Thanksgiving weekend. Ensemble members will be collecting bottles next weekend and turning in the return slips to the Band Boosters mailbox in the Band Room or to director Chris Vilag. Anyone wishing to support WB Percussion can also donate bottles/cans or bottle return slips.
