MARCHING BAND PERFORMANCE AT ABBOTT MIDDLE SCHOOL
Each year the marching band performs at each middle school to recruit new members and to show the middle schoolers what a great band we have! This Wednesday, all marching band students will be released from school early, and are to report to the band room to change into their uniform. They will then be bussed to Abbott for the performance, which will happen around 2pm. A truck will be rented for the front ensemble instruments and equipment. OLMS students will be transported to Abbott by Claudia Bologna. After the performance, all students will return to the high school for marching band rehearsal at 3pm. PLEASE REMEMBER TO WEAR OR BRING BLACK SOCKS ON WEDNESDAY! Departure and performance times will be announced very soon!
WEST BLOOMFIELD LAKER INVITATIONAL IS THIS SATURDAY!
On October 12, 2013 at 6:00pm, we will be hosting 6 bands at WBHS for the Annual Marching Band Invitational. Please invite your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to come on out and see some wonderful and very talented bands perform. The bands attending are: Ferndale, Flushing, Clarkston, Grand Blanc, Walled Lake Central and Lake Orion. West Bloomfield will perform last in exhibition.
Volunteers: We need every parent to work a shift! We need help! Alumni, friends, family, neighbors, responsible children, are all welcome. Contact Ruth Richards at firstname.lastname@example.org today!
ALL VOLUNTEERS: For the invitational, please wear the Firebird show shirt and black pants. If you do not have a show shirt, then please wear any WB band shirt.
What a great night! The weather held off and WB won the game! We hope everyone had a great time at Friday’s Homecoming Tailgate. We would like to thank everyone for helping out with set up, clean up and also for bringing all the delicious side dishes and desserts. Without your help this would not have been a great success. THANK YOU!

PIT CREW – MORE MEMBERS NEEDED!
How would you like to attend the State Finals competition (Saturday, November 2) with other WB Band parents, avoid driving in traffic and not have to pay $6 to park your car?
Contact Mary Ingweiller today if you and your family would be interested in riding a West Bloomfield bus down to Ford Field for $10/person!!
Email Mary today at email@example.com
There are many areas in the band program that could not function without the hard work and dedication of our parent volunteers. Take a minute to look over the groups below and see what you would like to do. Please feel free to choose more than one area. Email Mary Ingweiller or Heide Dronchi to sign up today!
Bake Sale Chairperson(s): Thank you to Natalie Walls and Suzanne Crawford for volunteering!
Pit Crew: Help us move the front ensemble equipment/instruments/props on and off the field/truck. Click HERE to sign up today!
Silent Auction Chairperson(s): Tasks include finding donations, setting them up and creating auction sheets. Our Silent Auction takes place at our Annual Spaghetti Dinner in March.
Merchandising Chairperson: We are looking for someone to promote our online store at concerts and and some Parent Meetings. This person would also be responsible for selling a few items that are not on our online store such as: luggage tags, stickers, magnets and headbands. You would also be responsible for monitoring our online store (which pretty much runs itself!) The concert dates are: 12/19/13, 36/14 and 5/13/14. Time involvement is very minimal. You must be available for concerts and a few parent meetings as well as order more merchandise when the inventory runs low.
Bottle/Can Drive: We need someone to be in charge of collecting bottles and cans at our band concerts throughout the year. Time is minimal.
Trailer Ad Coordinator: We are looking for 1 or 2 people to be in charge of talking to businesses about advertising on our semi-truck. Click HERE for more information
Now is the time to order sweatshirts and jackets to keep warm during those October football games and invitationals. Show your Lake Pride! Go to wbbands.info/band-merchandise today! A portion of every sale goes to West Bloomfield Bands.
Please note that WGI World Championships are during Spring Break this year (April 10, 11, 12). Please do not plan anything that week as we will have rehearsals on the days leading up to championships.
The West Bloomfield Winter Guard is open to all 6th – 12th grade students and will be competing this year! We are very excited! Mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 12 when we will have an informational meeting. More details coming soon!
Our LATE SESSION has opened and needs volunteers! We are running a 2nd session of BINGO every Friday beginning at 10:30pm every Friday night!! This is in addition to our regular 6:15pm session. We need volunteers! Add $30/week to your student’s band account and volunteer today!. October signups are now available at wbbands.info/bingo.
We are looking to add a few more corporate sponsors to purchase a trailer ad on the side of our semi trailer. Please contact John Boruta at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in purchasing one, know of a business that is interested or are able to help go to businesses, and ask them to purchase an ad. All corporate sponsors will get an ad on both sides of the trailer, advertising on our website and advertising in our concert band programs. Click HERE for more information.
Go to wbbands.info/fundraising/scrip-program/ and order SCRIP (gift cards). By doing so, you make money for the band and for your student’s account!
