Dear Band Family,

Way to go WB…as always you all did an excellent job at Field Day and we greatly appreciate all your hard work! It was a great success in the end even though we had couple of hiccups in the middle due to the unpredictable weather. Thank you for all the volunteers, food donations and great photographers.

A few Updates:

We are running a fundraiser through Snap-raise. One week is already gone. We have 3 more weeks to go. Keep sending the emails and reminder to your family and friends about this fundraising. This fundraiser involves emailing potential donors and asking for donations. The funds from this are going towards uniforms and percussion equipment. As always, we cannot force families to participate. However, we are asking for high levels of participation. If you received an email or text from your child today, it was for this fundraiser. Students who obtain certain levels of donations can earn prizes such as Nike t-shirts, athletic gear, and backpacks.

Where: Abbott and OLMS Middle School Band Rooms
What: Learn to play the WBHS fight song and “stand tunes”…and… learn to march or spin a flag before participating in the Homecoming Parade on Friday, September 23. Who: All 7th and 8th grade students – NOT JUST BAND STUDENTS! Bring your instrument and a friend!

Location: the parade begins at Prince of Peace Catholic Church at Walnut Lake and Green roads and will proceed down Green Rd to the high school.
Who: all marching band members and 7th/8th grade students will march in the parade.
Parents come watch and cheer the kids on!

5:45pm – Homecoming Tailgate

Time: right after the parade, 5:45pm – 6:45pm
Location: in the south WBHS parking lot by the WB Bands semi-trailer.
Who: all MARCHING BAND STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES, all 7th & 8TH GRADE STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES and all ALUMNI are welcome to join us for a BBQ.

FOOD: Click HERE to sign up to donate food and help out (coming soon)!  We are asking that things be dropped off at the school no later than 5pm. If you are also volunteering, please arrive at 4pm, to help with the set up. That should give you enough time to set up and still get to the parade to see your children!

If you are bringing a hot dish, please try to have it in a crockpot, but know that there is no way to keep things plugged in. If you do not want to bring a crockpot, have the dish in an aluminum pan. There will be chafing racks and sternos available. Please provide your own utensils, which will then leave with you when everything is over. There will be utensils available if you forget.

7:00pm – Football Game (vs. Stoney Creek)

The marching band and 7th/8th grade students will march into Laker Stadium with the band.

PARENTS:  you are welcome to come sit in the bleachers next to the band.

The 7th & 8th grade students will participate in the pre-game festivities on the field and will sit with the band in the stands and play pep songs.

MARCHING BAND PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT:

There are still few people didn’t sign this!!!

Click this link to download a copy of our Parent Code of Conduct.  Developed in conjunction with the Athletic department and supported by Principal Pat Watson, it is required that all parents/or legal guardians of Marching Band 2016 members (including Color Guard and Percussion) review, sign and turn in the attached form before their children begin summer rehearsals.  All the band member’s parents are required to sign. Please be advised that if only one parent signs, the rules and guidelines still will apply to all parents as if all parents signed the document.

Just a reminder, avoid late charges and send in your final band payment, which is due Thursday, Sept. 15.

Please drop off your payment in the band room mail box; it will be picked up Thursday after practice.

You also can mail your payment to Carmen and Ruben Luna (3581 Woodview Ave., West Bloomfield, MI -48324). If you mail them, please email txkritters@gmail.com so we know a payment has been mailed and the late fee will not be assessed.
